कंकाल पेशी या केवल पेशी प्राणियों का आकुंचित होने वाला ऊतक है। इनमें आंकुंचित होने वाले सूत्र होते हैं जो कोशिका का आकार बदल देते हैं। पेशी कोशिकाओं द्वारा निर्मित उस ऊतक को पेशी ऊतक कहा जाता है जो समस्त अंगों में गति उत्पन्न करता है। इस ऊतक का निर्माण करने वाली कोशिकाएं विशेष प्रकार की आकृति और रचना वाली होती हैं। इनमें कुंचन करने की क्षमता होती है। पेशियांं रेखित, अरेखित एवं हृदय तीन प्रकार की होती हैं। मनुष्य के शरीर में 40 प्रतिशत भाग पेशियों का होता है। मानव शरीर में 639 मांसपेशियां पाई जाती हैं। इनमें से 400 पेशियाँ रेखित होती है। शरीर में सर्वाधिक पेशियां पीठ में पाई जाती है। पीठ में 180 पेशियां पाई जाती हैं। पेशियां तीन प्रकार की होती हैं। ऐच्छिक मांसपेशियाँ, अनैच्छिक मांसपेशियाँ और हृदय मांसपेशियाँ।
